Dudley Hires New Town Accountant

The town of Dudley has hired Sarah B. Mongeau as its new Town Accountant.
“Ms. Mongeau’s experience and background combined with her education and credentials are exactly what is needed for taxpayers to better trust and understand the financial information the town provides to them,” Town Administrator Jonathan Ruda said.
Mongeau is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Government Financial Manager and a Certified Fraud Examiner with extensive experience conducting compliance and performance audits of Commonwealth agencies.
She has more than 20 years of experience working for the state and more than 10 years of diverse accounting experience in private and public accounting.
During her nearly seven years with the Office of the State Auditor, she led performance audits for Judiciary Agencies, Educational Institutions and Independent Authorities. As an Audit Director of Independent Authorities and Education with that office, she managed up to 20 audit teams.
During her nine years at the University of Massachusetts Office of the President, Mongeau first served as a Senior Internal Auditor and later as the University Controller.
She holds a Master of Science degree in Accountancy from Bentley University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Emmanuel College.
Mongeau’s duties include presenting quarterly updates to residents at Board of Selectmen meetings, adding her expertise to budget and finance hearings, providing subject matter expertise to volunteer boards and committees and attending town meetings to assist residents in interpreting municipal financial data and budget information.
Mongeau succeeds Deborah A. Thibaudeau, who is retiring on August 7 after 21 years with the town.
