The Webster Division of the Worcester Model Railroaders announces an open house at 14 Railroad Avenue in Webster to be held on March 1st. From 10 AM to 3 PM, families, friends and kids of all ages will be able to view and operate two large, model railroad layouts in operation. The first is a 40’x60’ HO gauge layout depicting railroad operations in New England. This layout is computer controlled using Digitrax DCC. Watch the trains as they climb to the second level via the helix. The second layout is a 10’x30’ O gauge layout-a typical Lionel train operation that is familiar to most folks. During the open house, visitors of all ages will have an opportunity to control the trains as they make their way around the layout. Club members will be available to give tours of the layouts and discuss club activities. This is also a great opportunity to donate any railroad equipment that might be languishing in basements and attics. The club will accept any equipment no matter its condition. Members will also be able to discuss and help solve any problems visitors might be having with their own railroad equipment. If visitors have DCC equipped locomotives, they are welcome to bring them to run on the HO layout. Our open house is a family oriented event being held in conjunction with our annual show being held the same day at the Auburn Elks Club. Refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge but donations would be welcomed. GPS will get you to Railroad Avenue in Webster. Once there, cross the RR tracks, bear right, keeping the brick buildings on your left and follow the signs to the open house. Best of all, come prepared to have fun!
