The site of Highfields golf and Country Club was the heart the Magill family dairy farm. John Magill being an avid golfer had a vision to turn these pastures and woods into an 18 hole championship golf course. With his steely determination, alongside his son Jay, the duo worked tirelessly with Mugeam, Cornish golf design to create one of New Englands premier golf courses. Together they took advantage of the lay of the land, clearing, excavating, grading and seeding all tee boxes, fairways and greens. Highfields opened in 2002 as an instant success: designed to appeal to golfers of all abilities.
