The Fall Town Meeting is set for 7 p.m. October 19, 2026, in the Connie Vanco-Galli Auditorium at Shepherd Hill Regional High School. If needed, the meeting will continue Tuesday, October 20.

Voters will consider eight warrant articles, with several addressing town finances and proposed zoning changes involving Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).

In financial matters, the FY2027 Supplemental Budget proposes a $431,500 allocation of so-called free cash, which is recently state-certified revenue from the last fiscal year.

The allocation includes $68,500 for administration; $130,000 for the Finance Appropriation and Advisory (FAA) Reserve Fund; $10,000 for Information Technology; $4,000 for municipal expenses; $83,000 for police; $86,000 for fire, and $50,000 for highway. If approved, the total budget, including state assessments, enterprise funds, offsets and overlay, would be $31.46 million.

The Supplemental Budget also proposes transfers from free cash of $80,000 to the Capital Improvement Stabilization Fund and $131,172 to the general Stabilization Fund, which are the town’s savings accounts.

The Water-Sewer Commission seeks voter approval to use $500,000 from Water Enterprise retained earnings to fund the replacement of spent granular activated carbon media inside one of the town’s two PFAS filtration tanks.

The Planning Board seeks voter approval to establish a new ADU bylaw that would allow certain ADUs under state law and establish rules for larger or additional ADUs. The ADUs would be limited to 900 square feet, or half the floor area of the principal dwelling, whichever is smaller. The proposal also provides a process for allowing up to three ADUs on a lot. Short-term rentals would be prohibited in ADUs.
