In a milestone reached by less than 1% of married couples, Frank and Alice Susskey are celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary. Married on July 6, 1946, the couple will commemorate eight decades of partnership—fittingly known as an “oak anniversary” for its legendary strength.

Frank, 99, and Alice, 98, first met as young teenagers. The couple’s anniversary was marked by a celebration at the Uxbridge Senior Center located at 36 South Main Street. This event included State Rep. Michael Soter, Uxbridge BOS member, John Wise, and Uxbridge Town Administrator, Steve Sette, along with State Senator Ryan Fattman’s Assistant, Amanda Hellyar.

The couple was presented with citations from the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the Massachusetts Senate, recognizing this great accomplishment. The Susskey family attended the event, including their two children, son Frank Jr and daughter Sally, as well as their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, many other family members, friends, and neighbors attended the celebration.

The Susskey family has been proud residents of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, all their lives. Many Uxbridge Department Heads attended the celebration, including Uxbridge Police Chief Marc Montminy and Sgt. Tim Burke, DPW Director, Benn Sherman, Town Assessor, Ken O’Brien, and Senior Center Director, Lisa Bernard. Father Michael Hoye, from St. Marks in Sutton (formerly from St. Mary’s in Uxbridge), also attended andpresented the couple with blessed rosary beads from Pope Leo.

If you would like to wish Alice and Frank a Happy Anniversary, please forward cards to the Uxbridge Senior Center at 36 South Main Street, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
