Blackstone Valley Art Association update
Bev Tinklenberg, First Place, watercolor
July will be a wonderful month with the community of local artists at the Blackstone Valley Art Association! Our July art show is a “Carbon Copies” forgeries show, where artists create fun versions of Picasso, Renoir, Monet, or any other historic artworks. Add a cat to the Mona Lisa! Turn the Scream into a dog! The Forgery reception is Friday, July 31, giving everyone a full month to vote for their favorites. We’d love to have you enter, vote, and then come to the party! All are welcome to vote and attend the reception.
The next show dropping off August 1st is our Show of Hands show, which is open to the public. This show is for everything except photography. It’s the opposite show of our Photography-only show, which we hold in January. Bring in your watercolors, colored pencil art, sculpture, acrylic paintings, drawings, sketches, and more! We’d love to see what you come up with.
All summer long in June, July, and August, we have FREE open-to-the-public creativity-inspiring sessions every third Tuesday. That’s Tuesday, July 21 and August 18 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. We’ll have watercolor paints, acrylic paints, pens, pencils, Gelli plates, and more. You can drop in any time between 6:30-8:30 p.m.and give it a try! We’d love to meet you and chat about art.
Congratulations to the winners of our “Series Show”, where each artist put in 2-3 pieces that related to each other. It was an inspiring show of over 90 pieces. You can see artwork in a wide variety of styles through July 11th. The winners were: 1st / Bev Tinklenberg watercolor. 2nd / Lynne Galluzzo, colored pencil. 3rd / Melissa Beyer watercolor.
