MIIA grant updates Oxford Fire/EMS facility
The Town of Oxford was awarded a $10,000 risk management grant from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association (MIIA), the town’s property and casualty insurance provider. These monies were used to support the replacement of deteriorated water lines that have placed Fire/EMS apparatus and specialty equipment at risk.
The funding allowed the town to expedite replacement of a failed fire suppression system water line and sprinkler heads above the garage bay at Fire/EMS Headquarters. The work helped to ensure reliable fire protection and reduced the risk of water damage to vehicles and equipment stored in the facility.
“This grant funding has allowed us to protect and safeguard the public safety assets that help keep our residents and businesses safe,” said Justin Leduc, acting Oxford town manager.
Now in its 24th year, MIIA’s FY2026 risk management grant program has awarded a total of $1 million to 146 members to support risk management practices and projects that help protect employees, buildings, infrastructure, and other public assets.
“This grant program is about helping members take practical steps to reduce risk and strengthen resilience,” said Stan Corcoran, senior executive and MIIA executive vice president. “We are pleased to support Oxford’s efforts to protect critical emergency response equipment, reduce property risk, and strengthen facility safety.”
MIIA is a membership service of the Massachusetts Municipal Association. As a mission-driven, member-led nonprofit, MIIA focuses on providing Massachusetts municipalities and other governmental entities with insurance coverage alternatives, quality risk management, and wellness programs.
