Director’s News For April  

SHINE Counselor, Pat Nectow, is back from hiatus and able to assist you with your health insurance questions and concerns. Pat will be at the center on Tuesday, April 21 at 9 a.m. Please call the center to schedule your appointment.

The Walk & Talk walking club is back! Join Wellness Coordinator DoreenCedrone, Walk & Talk Program! This group will meet every Monday at 9:00 a.m. starting on Monday, April 27. The location of walk will be the Town Loop. Participants will meet Doreen at

McCloskey School, 62 Capron Street at 9 a.m. The program is weather permitting, don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle. You must preregister, the enrollment forms are available at the Senior Center.

Volunteer Recognition Day, as the name suggests, is a day to honor, recognize and celebrate the selfless individuals who volunteer their time and energy to help others and promote good causes. The senior center will be holding a luncheon for our volunteers on Monday, April 27 at 12 p.m. Please consider joining us to celebrate our volunteers at this luncheon and don’t forget to RSVP. This is a time to honor the impact of all those who do good in our Town and inspire others to make a difference.

The Uxbridge Elderly Connection will be holding their Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m. at the Senior Center. We will be reviewing the Annual Report and the election of Board of Directors members. Any member of UEC interested in running for the Board should contact Director Lisa Bernard or Donna Oncay at the senior center. The Uxbridge Elderly Connection is the fundraising arm of the senior center and provides financial funding for some of the senior center’s activities and programs. 

You are invited to the second annual Uxbridge Senior Center Golden Gala! We are celebrating our Uxbridge seniors with this special luncheon of dining, dancing and festivities. Please join us on Friday, May 15 from 11a.m.-3 p.m. at the VFW Post 1385 located at 13 Cross Road in Uxbridge. You must purchase tickets in advance at the Uxbridge Senior Center. The cost of the tickets is a $5 per person donation which includes the meal and the entertainment. This event is sponsored by the Uxbridge Elderly Connection. No tickets will be available at the door.

Monday, April 13,  – 1:30 p.m. – Pebble Art with The Orange Jellyfish Shop. This is sponsored by a grant from Uxbridge Cultural Council. Class size is limited so be sure to sign up early!

Tuesday, April 14,  – 1p.m. – Uxbridge Library Book Club. They will be discussing “The Last Mona Lisa” by Jonathan Santlofer. You are welcome to join us for lunch on this day, just be sure to call ahead to bookyours! Next book club meeting is on Tuesday, May

12 and they will be discussing “We All Live Here” by Jojo Moyes.

Tuesday, April 14,  – 1 p.m .– Benefit Enrollment Specialist – Tri-Valley, Inc. Call the senior center to book an appointment. Next date will be Tuesday, May 12.

Thursday, April 16, – 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. – Big BINGO at the Uxbridge Senior Center. Join us for a fun afternoon of BINGO cash prizes!  Packets of 10 games for $10.  Transportation will be provided.  Let us know if you’d like to join us for lunch on this date by calling or stopping by to RSVP. You must sign up by 12 noon the day before game day.

Monday, April 20, - The Senior Center will be closed in observance of Patriots’ Day. We will re-open on Tuesday, April 21 st at 8 a.m.

Tuesday, April 21,  – 9 a.m. – SHINE Appointments. Pat Nectow will be available for your health insurance questions. Call to book an appointment.

Wednesday, April 22,  - 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. – “PopUp Library”. Books will be on display to check out, library card sign-ups, book hold pick-ups, etc. This program is being offered by the Uxbridge Free Public Library.

Thursday, April 23,  – 1:30 p.m. – Sally’s Spring Bulb Planter Class! Cost is $7per person due upon signup.


Friday, April 24,  - 12 p.m. – April Birthday Cake Celebration. We will celebrate all the April birthdays!

Monday, April 27,  – 9 a.m. – Walk & Talk Begins!

Monday, April 27,  – 11:30 a.m. – Low Impact Exercise Class with Pan Landi - Join Pam every Monday at McCloskey School. The benefits of this program will help improve flexibility, concentration, balance, and strength. Additional benefits include increase blood flow, enhancing attention, burning calories, and meeting new friends. The donation cost of the 8-week program is $25. You must pre-register, please stop by the center to receive the application and waiver forms prior to the start of this program.


Monday, April 27,  – 12 p.m. – Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. Join us in celebrating our volunteers! You must RSVP.


Monday, April 27,  – 1:30 p.m. – “Ask the Attorney” with Attorney Ralph Tepper by appointment only. Please call 508-278-8622 to schedule your appointment.


Tuesday, April 28,  - 11a.m. – 12 p.m. – Ask the Nurse Free Blood Pressure Clinic with the Salmon Health VNA. RSVP if you’d like to join us for lunch.


Thursday, April 30,  – 1:30 p.m. – Free Afternoon Movie at the Senior Center! We will be watching John Wayne’s “The Quiet Man “. Refreshments to be served and transportation is available.

Card Game played during lunch on Mondays. No game on April 27.

Walk & Talk Begins Every Monday at 9:00 a.m. Walking the town loop, weather permitting. Meet at the McCloskey School.

Hannaford grocery shopping every Tuesday. Pick up begins at 8:30 a.m. Please sign up in advance by calling 508-278-8622 to reserve your seat on the van.

Knitting Club every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. – Even if you don’t know how to knit or crochet, come and visit us! The group members are always willing to teach you!

Every Wednesday – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – The Uxbridge Senior Center Transportation Program Community Shuttle. This shuttle is for seniors and individuals with disabilities to destinations such as post office, pet care appointments, hair salon or barber, bank, pharmacy & shopping anywhere in the Uxbridge/Northbridge area. Note: this replaces the weekly bank/pharmacy and Shaw’s/Ocean State rides. Call 508-278-8622 for more  information and to book your FREE ride. Requests require a 48-hour notice.

Every Wednesday– BINGO is played during lunch! Wednesdays - “Canasta” Hand, Knee & Foot CardGame at 1:15 p.m. Let us know if you’d like to join us for lunch!

Wednesdays – Play Scrabble! – 1:15 p.m. – Come by for an afternoon playing Scrabble. Boards are supplied by the senior center. Let us know if you’d like to join us for lunch!
