The Oxford Select Board appointed Peter McGowan as interim police chief, effective Feb. 18, following the end of the current Police Chief Michael Daniels term of employment on  Saturday, Feb 14. 

Chief Daniels was sworn in as interim police chief for Canton on Feb 17.

McGowan previously served as chief in Millis from 2004 to 2011 before leading the Dover Police Department from 2011 until his retirement in 2023. He most recently served as interim chief in Upton from August 2024 until February 2025. He will lead the Oxford Police Department until a permanent chief is appointed.
