Trinket Dish Craft Tuesday, August 19, 6-6:45 p.m. and 6:45-7:30 p.m. Reading Garden - registration required.
Getting Inky with It, Wednesday, August 20 10:30-11:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.-12 p.m. Reading Garden - registration required. This month we’re crafting with alcohol inks! We’ll start by making bookmarks and then we’ll decorate trinket dishes. Please note that this craft will be in the Reading Garden due to the odors. The dishes will need to be left at the Library for a week while they are sealed and dried. Participants will be notified when their dishes are ready to be picked up. For adults and teens ages 13 and older; registration is required. Do not wear your favorite clothes in case of splatter!
Design Your Own Pencil Case Thursday, August 21, 5:30-6:15 p.m. Storytime Room - registration required Add your own design to these canvas pouches! Turn yours into a pencil case, a toiletry bag, or even a wallet/clutch - whatever you’d like! This event is best suited for children ages 5-11.
Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group Thursday, August 21, 6-7:30 p.m. Community Meeting Room - no registration required. The Alzheimer’s Support Network Caregiver Support Group is led by Alzheimer’s Care Professionals and experienced caregivers. We offer information, resources, and strategies specific to caring for someone with Alzheimer’s and other dementias along with support for transitioning to different care settings. Death Cafe Thursday, August 21, 6-7:30 p.m. Dexter Hall - no registration required. A Death Café is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or course of action, no set conclusions and no judgement. It provides a safe environment to gather, eat cake, drink tea or coffee, and enjoy open-minded conversation about dying and death. It is an opportunity to share, explore and question our own perceptions of death. It’s not a bereavement session – just an open conversation about a topic that we often find taboo. Quick Pickling Workshop Tuesday, August 26, 6-7:30 p.m. Community Meeting Room - registration required. The folks from Blackstone Valley Veggie Gardens will be here to teach us about the Quick Pickling method! Let’s learn to make summer squash, zucchini or cucumber pickles.
