Apr 29, 2025 09:27AM ● By Michelle Mc Sherry
Community Harvest Project (CHP) will host their annual plant sale fundraiser beginning April 18th. The sale is for anyone looking for plants to grow fresh produce, vibrant flowers, and perennials in their own gardens. Online orders started April 18 for CHP Monthly Givers, and will start on April 25 for the public. Online order pickup will be on May 9, 2-6 p.m. All remaining inventory and compost will be sold in-person from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on May 10 at 37 Wheeler Road, North Grafton. To place your order online, visit community-harvest.org. “We have heirloom tomatoes, peppers, squashes, herbs, annual flowers, hops, succulents, berry bushes, and more,” said Dave Johnson, CHP Farm Operations Manager. “Our farmer’s select their and your favorite varieties to grow each year, prioritizing great flavor, beauty, and output. Each of our seedlings are nurtured to be strong and productive to thrive in your garden.” CHP staff, along with many dedicated volunteers, start plants from seed each spring in the greenhouse which are then sold at Plantapalooza.  “Plantapalooza is a gardening tradition that brings the community together. Every plant purchased, from the biggest blooming flower to the most minute cherry tomato, funds our operations. Your plant purchases make it possible for us to farm for hunger relief.” said Tori Buerschaper, CHP Executive Director. Community Harvest Project produced 188,501 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables in 2024 which were distributed to food banks, local food pantries, and other emergency food relief agencies throughout eastern and central Massachusetts. Proceeds from Plantapalooza support CHP’s mission to engage and educate volunteers to grow fresh fruits and vegetables for hunger relief.
