Welcome to November and the start of the holiday season!
The Senior Center will carry on the annual Thanksgiving meal distribution for Uxbridge residents. This year’s meal will be held on Monday, November 25th. At your request, the lunch can be delivered to your home between the hours of 11:30am-1:30pm, or, if you prefer, you can drive by the senior center to pick it up. Lunch will consist of hot, sliced, turkey with gravy dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetable and a roll, and cranberry sauce on the side along with a personal sized Table Talk Pie for dessert. We are accepting monetary donations to the Center to help support this project. The lunch is free and open to all seniors and the disabled. Please call the Center if you would like lunch or if you would like to donate. Once again, this year, the Senior Center received a Fallon Health Mini Grant to cover for some of this project. We appreciate their continued support!

Tara Hammes from MCOA (Massachusetts Council on Aging) visited us on October 3rd at McCloskey School (our satellite site) to host the MCOA ActiveAgers Program. Councils on Aging (COAs) are essential in promoting healthy aging by offering diverse programs and services that keep older adults active, eating well, managing chronic conditions, and staying socially connected. The Uxbridge Senior Center was awarded a $100 grant to sponsor this event, and we had 2 lucky drawing winners for the ActiveAgers Program who each won a $25 VISA gift card, and the door prize was raffled which consisted of a gym bag with lots of extras inside! The Uxbridge COA focus is on fitness programs, namely our Zumba, Low Impact and Walking Groups which our Wellness Coordinator, Doreen Cedrone, supervises. Thank you to all our participants and to MCOA for a spectacular day! P.S.--Stay tuned for another exercise program coming soon to McCloskey School for our older adults!
